Delightful Fragrance and a Cold Process Challenge (Acceleration)
DJ 2025-09-29

The FO Harvest Moon is quite lovely, and while reviews are generally positive for wax melts and candles, a note of caution to cold process soapmakers—I experienced acceleration, which was most noticeable around the 4-5 minute mark; it is completely possible to work this into a CP recipe, with caveats:Work quickly at lower temps (I worked with temps of 120 degrees F for the lye solution and 110 F for the oils and butters (olive, coconut, shea, and castor)); have your color and fragrance oil mixed ready to go (there will not be a whole lot of time to dilly or dally; working with more than 2 colors had its challenges (the soap batter was soap on a stick within 5 minutes!) This FO would work well in other bath and beauty formulations also- I may yet try again with this FO, so I wanted to let everyone know to be aware

Sensual Plum Smoke
Melanie 2025-08-12

I would call it: Sensual Plum Smoke or something to that effect. Plum notes hit me right in the nose and between the eyes. It's a beautiful scent for sure and plum is such a unique and complicated scent to capture but somehow CS did just that. I did notice the pear notes, not so much of the green leaves, and warm cinnamon (not dessert like but actual cinnamon stick warm type) and smokey , like Embers on a campfire with some Sandalwood dancing around. It is a beautiful , complex fall scent. I detected some orange and even bubble gum top notes but as it dries down those dissipate more. I test my fragrances as a perfumer would so I give them scent descriptions and write down everything. Don't judge a scent just OOB as that is the top notes that are their to draw you in BUT generally they dont remain. Its the heart (perfumers term) and base Notes that will give you a better description of what a fragrance will smell like in the long-term. That said, you can detect sweetness but not bakery cloying vanilla sweet but its there, almost like CS captures the ripe sugary sultryness of the plum. Who ever created this one, FABULOUS JOB!!!! I think it can stand alone but for more smoke or spice, consider Woodsy notes or even more cinnamon fragrance. I cant wait to blend it with unique CS fragrances and see what I conjure up.

This was a fall STAPLE but I want to have it all year long! Used in 464 and it has a wonderful hot throw. Warm and slightly Smokey with a well balanced freshness from the pear.
