Cold Process Soap Performance

Acceleration
Moderate
Discoloration
Brown
Separation
None

Lye Water Temperature 90ºF (32.2°C)
Oil Temperature 90ºF (32.2°C)

We experienced a moderate, nearing excessive amount of acceleration but no separation. We stick blended for no more than 5 seconds and the batter was at a thick trace. We were able to continue hand stirring to ensure all the oils and water were fully combined and the batter did not stiffen. The batter turned bright yellow once it came to a trace. After 24 hours, we observed the soap had only reached a partial gel and the outer edges discolored to tan while the inner area remained yellow. The scent was very strong. After 30 days, the soap had discolored to a chocolate brown color and the scent remained strong. We recommend allowing the oils and lye water to cool to room temperature before mixing, hand stirring this fragrance in at a very light trace, and choosing a simple design that embraces the dark discoloration.

Great scent!

I really enjoy this scent! It is a sweeter version of black currant absinthe in my opinion! I do wish they had suggestive branding ideas for this one as I am having trouble coming up with a name! It's a sensual, elegant, luxurious type scent!

Black Currant & Jasmine @ 10%
Jaded Gypsy 2024-03-07

I always randomly pick a sample when ordering, and I am SOO glad I chose this. This is not one I would normally choose, but was VERY surprised. I used it at 10% in my proprietary wax blend of coco apricot, soy, paraffin, and microcrystalline waxes and the CT& HT are outstanding! I am alsmot getting the HT of my 17oz 3 wick candle from this smaller 8oz size. I will be adding this to my line for sure!

Beautiful & Seductive

If you're a soap maker and considering this oil please choose it because it's awesome. I would like to share the reasons I love the Black Currant and Jasmine. First it has a gorgeous, soft, somewhat fruity, and sensual scent. Secondly, the scent comes out perfectly in cp soap- in other words the scent is not altered through the process. Finally this fragrance soaps very well without any seizing, or ricing, and no acceleration. The final bar will be brown, with the vanilla content. Candle Science is so focused with their scents, and I love that essential oils are used. I also love that these are clean scents- (without bad chemicals). I love that these fragrance oils are tested. The Black Currant and Jasmine is superb! I give it 5 stars!

A favorite, sweeter than I expected
DE 2024-01-10

This is one of my favorite scents from CandleScience. It’s much sweeter to my nose than I expected from the description (I would definitely describe it as mostly a berry scent, not super floral). I’ve enjoyed mixing with Fraser Fir and others.
